The Finnish pianist Iiro Rantala and the Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset are among the outstanding figures of European jazz who give this music a clearly audible, Nordic signature. In their joint duo program, they tell musical stories inspired by the music and culture of their home countries - from Grieg and Sibelius to their own compositions. And Rantala and Neset are kindred spirits in many ways > they share a virtuoso mastery of their instruments and deep roots in the American jazz tradition and European classical music alike. Both are outstanding composers - from solo works to full-length concerts for big bands and symphony orchestras. Today Rantala and Neset, both internationally acclaimed and award-winning, play on equal terms.
