Florian Willeitner & Lucas Debargue | Art of Sonata

contemporary instrumental duo art classical

Florian Willeitner, violin | Lucas Debargue, piano

Lucas Debargue and Florian Willeitner are two dazzling birds of paradise on the European music scene. They are established greats in classical music, are known as virtuoso improvisers and are also distinguished composers.
Debargue has been one of the best-known and most eccentric young pianists since his success at the Tchaikovsky Competition and performs worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician.
Willeitner is the primarius of the world-renowned vision string quartet, wrote a ‘silent opera’ commissioned by opera star Rolando Villazon for the Salzburg Mozart Week and most recently published a fugue cycle for piano trio with the simple title: ‘What The Fugue?’.
This evening, created especially for the Mozartwoche Würzburg, is both radically different and traditional in the best sense of the word; it is the two exceptional musicians' answer to the question: What would Mozart play if he were on stage himself? Clearly: his own music, lots of improvisation, a firework display of creativity. And so this concert format promises a rare musical adventure which, in addition to the interpretation of two original Mozart sonatas, also includes space for the spontaneous, the different and the individual compositional languages of the two musicians: The Art of Sonata.
