THE ROARING FIFTIES
The initiator of the ensemble is Belgian trumpeter Jeroen Berwaerts, who has not only worked as a soloist with renowned orchestras and premiered numerous contemporary works, but is also a successful chansonnier, jazz vocalist and member of brass ensembles. Together with his three partners on trumpet, guitar and piano, he takes the audience on a short trip through the ‘roaring fifties’, as the motto suggests, paying little attention to the boundaries between serious and popular music. For example, the musicians have arranged pieces by free spirits such as Jacques Ibert, Jean Françaix, Henry Mancini, Dave Brubeck, and Jacques Brel for their ensemble and combined them into an entertaining programme.
