Lucia Cadotsch LIUN

LIUN + The Science Fiction Band are Lucia Cadotsch and Wanja Slavin. Does it make you love your life is their third album. 5 years have passed. That's how much time it has taken to put the written word into lightness. This album sounds so courageous, so multi-layered, so open, like the last door in the last room that finally leads out into the open.
This album is a masterpiece says Kurt Rosenwinkel, who mastered the album and will release it on 23 May 2025 on his Heartcore Records label.
Somewhere in the distance - small rivulets form into rivers, music like in a fairy tale, flat, backwards, washed out electro-acoustic. Then we enter a city, perhaps New York, the beat kicks in, clearly and dryly mixed forwards like in a Madlib track. Lucia Cadotsch sings with disarming clarity. The great strengths of this project are the sheer endless musicality, the vibe and a singer who shuttles between the big stage and the diary with somnambulistic confidence.
In many songs, a scenery is impressively painted, a carpet is rolled out with pads and arpeggios over which Lucia Cadotsch then rises in a black oversize blazer, dancing angularly like a world-weary version of David Byrne from "stop making sense" and shouting statements into the stage sky, or asking the question > Does it make you love your life? Yes, it does, and the great thing is > There is room for everything here, euphoria, melancholy, polyrhythms, saxophone and synthesiser solos that don't sound like jazz freestyle, but like exercises in freedom.
Here, human energy with all its edges and hooks, including creative playfulness and four o'clock in the morning ideas, has been transformed into music that is independent and big, but connected to the world at all ends. Music that connects its first childhood memories with jazz but knows that genres are as fluid as gender.
